Our Assembly today
Today, our assembly was mainly about the banning of students' iVLE accounts.
Ok, first if your not from Hwa Chong, iVLE would be an alien word to you. Let me first explain to you what it is.
It is the short form for Integrated Virtual Learning Environment.
iVLE is somewhere we can download notes or submit our homework. We can also chat with our friends and teachers or set up a forum.
The problem is, some of the students were caught playing computer games in the school computer lab and were caught. Thus, their accounts were suspended by the technicians.
To reactivate the account, they need to get their parents' letter and pay $10.
Many of the students were unhappy with this rule.
So we discussed about the possible ways to solve the problem.
At first I thought that one easy way was for the school to make some sort of firewall to block all the game websites. However, as someone voiced it out, it was understood that there were many students whose computer skills are good enough to continue to visit game websites.
Another way I thought was many peoples' opinion, that is to suspend the offenders' school account only and not the iVLE.
Then a teacher(I forgot his name. OOPs!) explained that the iVLE and school account were somewhat connected in a way. To separate them would make us have the need to remember more passwords. Good point.
But I also have my own point. We could just set the same password for all the accounts we have.........
So it seemed the only way was still the same way again. sign.......
